Standard features: WALK TRHOUGH Boarding the Beneteau First 285 is to port and starboard sides of the aft cockpit. Wide gangways allow easy access to the mast and main sail, jib, forward lines, and anchor locker. Down three steps from the cockpit, through the companionway, is the salon. To port is the L-Shaped galley. To starboard is the navigation station. Aft of the galley is the aft double berth. The head is located aft of the navigation station. Forward and mid cabin the combination dinette/settee with the fixed centered table. Forward of the dinette is the main V-berth. The engine is located beneath the companionway stairs. COCKPIT The distinctive feature of the cockpit is the pedestal helm station. The helm station includes stainless steel wheel, engine controls (throttle/gears), compass and convenience table with cup holders. The cockpit is spacious enough to captain the boat from aft, port or starboard of the wheel. Easy to use and easy to see instrumentation, consisting of wind, speed, depth gauges, are mounted on the starboard salon bulk head. Engine gauges are located to the aft section of the cockpit bench seat. Full cockpit bench seating (with cushions) is located to port and starboard. Under seat storage is provided as well as access to the top of the fuel tank, inverter, battery charger and water heater. Sail lines and winches are mounted on the aft section of the salon to both port and starboard. Additional winches are located along the cockpit coming to port and starboard. The cockpit has a full bimini top, helm station cover and main sail cover. To aft and mounted on the transom is the swim ladder and access to wash down/shower. There is also an transom locker for the LPG tank. DECKING & RIGGING A nice feature of this boat is the wide side deck gangways and the inward mounted stays that make traversing forward and aft for sail management easy and unencumbered. Sails include: - Main Sail (200 sq ft) - Genoa (256 sq ft) - Jib (144 sq ft) - Spinnaker (646 sq ft) - spinnaker pool mounted on boom Rigging includes: - Harkin Traveler (mounted in the cockpit area) - Boom Vang - 4 Lewmar winches (2 Lewmar #8 & #16 single speed winches mounted on the salon cabin top / 2 Lewmar #30 two speed, self tailing winches mounted on the cockpit coming) - Deck Stepped Mast - Split (adjustable) back stay - All sail lines run from the mast base aft (3 port/3 starboard) to the cockpit - Roller furler Deck safety features include molded in non-skid fiberglass surface, teak hand rails to assist in traversing the deck, stainless steel bow and stern railings and full lifelines from bow to stern. Mounted on the stern railing is the rescue ring. The swim ladder is mounted to the stern of the vessel. On the foredeck is the anchor lock equipped with a Danforth anchor, chain and rode. SALON The salon offers spacious living with galley and navigation to aft and combination dinette and settee mid cabin. The dinette/settee offers full seating to port and starboard with the seating converting to single berths. There is ample storage below the seating and additional shelf storage above. The stationary dinette table has retractable leaves and can be used as a work surface with one leaf up or full dining with both leaves. Additional storage is located under center of the dinette. Lighting is enhanced with an overhead hatch and fixed windows port and starboard. GALLEY The galley features a full-size Optimus LPG double burner range and oven to port. This unit is mounted with swivel brackets and pot holder brackets allowing for use under sail. To forward of the range/oven is the Formica type surface counter top with the in-mounted ice box and oval single stainless-steel deep well sink and pressurized hot and cold faucets. Storage is provided above and below the oven as well as to the starboard side of the galley counter. There is a working portal window above the oven cook area. NAVIGATION STATION To starboard from the galley is the navigation station that features: - Working surface with under storage - Hanging locker - Electrical panel - Standard Verizon VHF radio - West Marine combination am/fm/ CD/MP3 stereo (speakers are mounted on the forward bulkhead of the salon) - Two USB ports - Shelf storage - Convenience outlets ACCOMMODATIONS The Beneteau First 285 features two single berth and two double berths (one forward and one aft). The single berths are comprised of the dinette/settee seats at mid-cabin. The aft berth is located aft of the galley and is considered a ¾ berth. It has a hard privacy door, convenience lighting and port window into the cockpit. There is also engine room access from this berth as well as controls for the battery bank (house and starter) which are located beneath the berth cushions. The forward V-berth is spacious with 6 ½ ft plus in length on the port and starboard sides to make 2 single berths or can be converted to a full double berth with the added insert. There is adequate storage below the berth, along the shelves on the port and starboard side walls and a centered cubby above and forward of the berth. An overhead hatch provides lighting and ventilation. HEAD The combination head / shower is located aft of the navigation station to starboard. The head is a manual and in good working condition. The in-molded sink has pressurized hot and cold water with a handheld pull out shower fixture. There is under counter storage, access to the backside of the cockpit electronics, and an locker to access the AC electrical system components. The Seaward, 6 USG, water heater is locked in the head locker as well. ELECTRONICS & NAVIGATION FEATURES Electronics onboard include: Cockpit - Raymarine ST50 Tri Data wind gauge - Raymarine ST60 Tri Data speed gauge - Raymarine ST60 Tri Data depth gauge - Navico Wheel Pilot (Autopilot) - 6in Ritchie Compass Navigation Station - Standard Horizon, Eclipse, VHF - West Marine combination stereo (am/fm/cg/MP3 compatible) MECHANICAL The vessel is powered by a Volvo Penta [removed phone]hp) diesel engine. This is a single inboard with direct drive (1in Stainless Steel shaft). Two propellers are provided with the boat. The existing collapsible feather propeller and a fixed spare. The engine is located under the companionway steps and is easily accessed by removing middle step and access panel. Additional engine access is available though panel doors in the head and aft berth areas. ELECTRICAL The boat has 30Amp - 120 Volt AC electrical system fitted with a Marinco 30 Amp shore power cable and AC electrical distribution panel (located in the head locker). The main power panel is protected by dual polen30 amp breakers. The engine starter battery is located in the lazerette under the cockpit bench seat. DC power is provided by a battery bank (2) located beneath the aft berth. All batteries are Group 27 Lead Acid. Battery controls/switches are located along the interior wall in the aft berth area. The DC electrical panel is located at the navigation station and have Beneteau branch (push) breakers. The Turbo Charge 10, battery charger, is located in the standing locker behind the head along with the West Marine Inverted.
